An amazing Garment
starts with your idea
Occasion wear, casual wear, re-fashioning of garments, copy cuts from your favourites – only a few of the dressmaking services that Fashion Fantasies offer you.
Fancy Something New?
It starts with an idea, then add some fabric, time and a couple of seams.
As you can tell by most pictures, I’m very fond of vintage and floral patterns. However, the same garment will also work nicely in a plain fabric if you are not too fond of florals or patterns in general.
Together we will create something special to suit your taste.
Prom Dresses
Long ball gown, short tea dress, lace or satin, striking colours and prints – there are many options for prom dresses. Whichever you chose, it should fit your personality and shape.
My client wanted to treat her daughter to a wonderful prom dress. However, anything off-the-peg didn’t feel right. We got together to discuss personal preferences, colours and cuts to determine the ‘right’ dress. When I went back for the first fitting, my client was so happy with the comfortable fit of the dress that she almost didn’t want to take it off.
The dress matched the young lady’s colouring perfectly, she felt fabulous on her prom night.
Copy Cuts
Do you have a favourite garment that you wear over and over again?
Making a copy in your favourite colours is no problem – we might also add some features like pockets or a different closure to suit your requirements.
Re-Fashioning
Do you like vintage events and clothes just as much as I do? Then Goodwood Revival in September is most likely already in your diary. The event is a great opportunity to see, explore and dress accordingly.
Most outfits are based in the 40s and 50s, an era marked by feminine dresses, sophisticated cuts and beautiful accessories. Not to forget men’s shirts in quirky prints. If you like to show off a truly unique retro vibe I can help with the perfect outfit to match your personality.
The image shows a Re-Fashion Before and After, where I added components to an existing dress for a retro vibe. Also a typical man’s shirt in a retro print, short sleeved for the warmer weather.
Weddings
Here you see my lovely client Gerry O’Neill wearing her wedding dress. The outfit compliments the natural complexion and charisma of my client.
Following a colour consultation Gerry and I decided on a medium periwinkle/ lilac as the most suitable colour for the occasion.
The fitted dress flares out at the hemline and is combined with a navy blue lace shirt.
We decided to create a two-piece so that Gerry can wear dress and shirt individually. Imagine the shirt with a pair of trouser or jeans to create a completely different look. Pairing the dress with a scarf for a light summer outfit or chunky cardigan for a more relaxed feel are only two of many options.
Mother of the Groom - Sunshine in a Dress
Nicky’s son was getting married and my client looked for a nice outfit to go with the Sunflower Yellow & Blue theme. The shops just offered the standard fare but Nicky didn’t like the traditional Mother of the Groom look. In addition the outfit had to be very comfortable as my client was looking after her mum who was relying on her help on the day being bound to a wheelchair.
Nicky always loved dresses with a feminine and vintage feel so we decided for a fitted top with a corset back for extra comfort combined with a full circle skirt. The bolero was added in case it would get chilly during the event. A separate petticoat created a lovely overall silhouette. The dress could also be worn without the petticoat for a more relaxed look.
Men's Shirts
Love to wear an unusual pattern that matches your personality and style? Tired of searching the high streets and online? Search no further – I can design a unique shirt for you.
Bridesmaids
My client loves ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and searched the shops far and wide to find the right dresses for her four bridesmaids. When she finally found a retailer, the dresses were no longer available. She got in touch with me to design those dresses for her four friends. I added little tweaks to fit not just their figure but also their personal preferences like dress length, sleeves and neckline shapes.
Sounds familiar? I can design your garment based on photos or even sketches which will match your personality and fit your shape. I am always mindful when you have a certain budget available, too.
Classic White Wedding Trouser Suit
A bride deserves to feel fabulous on her wedding day and one of the influencing factors is certainly her outfit. She needs to wear something that is comfortable and suits her personality.
Sharon contacted me as she wanted something extravagant yet easy to wear while matching their white and ruby-red wedding theme. We sketched a trouser suit with a matching short-sleeved vest top. All made of a stretch crushed satin and an Emperor red satin lining. The look was complemented by dark red shoes. It was certainly a traditional white wedding outfit but with an extravagant twist to make my client look and feel special.
Casual Wear
Each wardrobe should hold some basic staple garments to compliment your outfits.
Here you see a long jacket combined with elasticated trousers and a wrap-over top. The black slinky material drapes beautifully and is very comfortable to wear.
When storing your knit and jersey outfits keep in mind that due to their elastic characteristics they might be better folded away and not put on a hanger. When being stored on a hanger they might loose their shape as they can’t carry their own weight.
